I am extremely behind in film reviews – so this will just be a couple of lines for each!
Film 59 – Up - I wasn’t sure about this film before I saw it, but it was great. It had lovely and funny characters, especially the dog and the bird, haha, and one of the saddest beginnings of a film I’ve ever seen! 8 / 10
Film 60 – Vanity Fair - I really wish I liked this more than I do! It has all the things I like – a great selection of actors, beautiful surroundings, period setting – but it just annoys me as well! I think its because I don’t particularly like the main character, and her actions annoy me, so the whole film is a bit annoying, which is a shame. 6 / 10
Film 61 – 1984 - This film is brilliant! You would never know that it had been made 26 years ago! It doesn’t look dated at all, and you definitely get the sense of the oppression that Winston feels, and how his life changes when he meets the girl and begins to think about things more. Gah I can’t remember her name, that’s terrible! Highly recommended. 9.5 / 10
Film 62 – Duplicity - This isn’t really the kind of film people would think I like, but it was great. I love Clive Owen as an actor as well, so he was great in it too. A classic thriller type – but with a really disappointing ending! I expected a bit more of the ending, but it was still a good film. 7 / 10
Film 63 – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One - Oooooh this was amazing! I am so glad that they made it into two films, they would never have been able to take anything out. The tension was so high for the entire film, it was almost like watching a horror film as you were just waiting for something to happen and someone to jump out at them! It was fantastic though. 10 / 10
Film 64 – It’s Complicated - This is just a basic, but quite amusing chick flick about a woman who divorces her husband and then falls back in love with him. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! 8 / 10
Film 65 – The Infidel - I was quiet disappointed with this film – as it could have been so much better! I think it would have worked better as a comedy drama on tv, rather than a whole film. Basically Omid Djalili (not sure if I’ve spelt that right!) was brought up Muslim but then found out he was born Jewish – and then there was some issue with someone preaching at the mosque he went to who was extremeist. It was good, and very funny in parts, but should have been shorter! 7 / 10
Film 66 – Mary Poppins - I love this film! It was my favourite film when I was a child, and its still in my top 10 now! The songs are great, Mary Poppins herself is great, and I even like Bert’s accent – I never thought it was cockney, so you can’t critisise him for that, its just how Bert speaks! Great film! :D 10 / 10
Film 67 – Kinky Boots - Basically about a shoe factory which is failing, and the owner decides to sell high heels for men. Its based on a true story, and is set in the Midlands, so its that kind of film which at first the people don’t like it, then one of them does, then they all do in the end, but then something happens to wreck their plans, but its all ok in the end! Good film though, with an interesting subject! 8 / 10
