Book Sixty Two – SS GB by Len Deighton )

Film 40 – Shrek Forever After )

My weekend was good, Katie was home so that always means its fun! Went to see a band called Bad Pollyanna on Friday, Katie had made some costumes for them, and they were good. And then went to Slimelight on Saturday – the music was as good as ever, especially on the goth floor, but there were a couple of annoying points, for a start it was so so hot (both inside and outside the club!), which made it quite uncomfortable, and for some of the night there was only me and one other guy dancing on the goth floor, which was so disappointing! Hopefully next week there will be more people on there as Specimen and Gene Loves Jezebel are both playing, which I’m quite looking forward to. Am a little bit annoyed though as it means that I will miss seeing Katie and going to the Wendyhouse – everything seems to be on the same weekend always!! But I’m going to ask her if I can come see her on the first weekend in August, so that’ll be cool.

Book Sixty Three - The Red House Mystery by AA Milne

Number of Pages: 211
Reason read: Free book from The Times, and I like the author's other books.
Rating: 9 / 10

This was a great book! As the name suggests, its a mystery set in a place called The Red House. The owner of the house shoots his brother and then disappears in mysterious circumstances...or does he? hehe! The style was very much like Sherlock Holmes, which I really liked, but in an obvious way, like the two people who were investigating the events (just two of the house guests, not the police!) said things like "so what would Holmes think about this?" which I liked. I like these old fashioned mysteries as they seem to move a lot slower than more modern crime books, and have lots of little details. I don't want to spoil the story really so I won't say too much about what happens, but it was great :) I love AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories, so was interested to read this book, and it wasn't disappointing. I'm now going to go and see if he's written anything else similar!

I am just about to start "Dracula the Un-dead" by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt. I really enjoyed Dracula when I read it earlier this year, so hopefully this will be good!

One thing I forgot to write about earlier, I ended up watching the World Cup Final on Sunday, while looking for something to watch whilst doing the ironing. It was terrible! At first they were all just falling over all the time, then although the teams were good, they were just fouling way too much. Although I'm sure the guy who kicked the other guy in the chest should have got a red card! But anyway, at least its over for another year, haha. The next sport I'll be interested in (not that I'm interested in many sports!!) will be the tennis, the US Open at the end of August - I hope at least some of it is on the tv so I can watch it! :)
