Train travel in this country is so expensive!!

The media would have you believe it is. Admittedly it's too hard to find the best deals, but they're out there, and you can get around pretty cheaply if you plan ahead a bit. I've just booked a sleeper berth from Edinburgh to London in August for a mere twenty-nine quid.
